Delete your Motorworks account
Last updated: 28 September 2026
This page explains how to delete a Motorworks account that you use on the web or in the Motorworks apps for Android and iPhone. You don't need the app installed to ask. In the app, the Delete account link in Settings, or in My day for technicians, brings you here.
How to ask for deletion
Email support@motorworks.ie from the email address you sign in with, and tell us which garage you work for. We'll confirm the request came from you, let your garage's administrator know, and then delete your account. If you no longer have access to that email address, write to us anyway and we'll explain how we can confirm it's you.
You can also ask your garage's administrator. They can switch off your access straight away from the Users list in Motorworks settings, on the web or in the app, which disables your account and ends its active sessions. Switching off access doesn't delete the account, so you or the administrator should still email us to have it deleted.
If you own a garage and want to close its whole Motorworks account rather than one person's sign-in, email us from the owner's address. You can export your records first, as our GDPR page describes.
What we delete
- Your Motorworks sign-in and your access to your garage's workspace
- Your two-step verification methods
- The device tokens used to send alerts to your phones
- Your staff profile, which we deactivate and anonymise so your name and email address are removed from it
Anything the app keeps on your phone, such as your sign-in session and any saved workshop position for departure reminders, is removed when you sign out of the app.
What we keep, and why
Records your garage needs for its own business stay with the garage after your account is deleted, because the garage, not Motorworks, decides what happens to them. That includes jobs, invoices, payments, time records and notes you created or worked on, and your name may still appear on them as the person who created or changed them. Garages usually have to keep invoices and accounting records for tax purposes for six years under Irish Revenue rules.
We also keep a short entry in our internal admin log showing that your account was deleted, including the email address it used, so we can show the request was carried out. Entries in our security and error logs are kept for a limited time, and deleted data can remain in database backups until those backups are replaced. We keep the admin log entry only as long as we need it to show the request was carried out, delete security and error logs once they are no longer needed, and replace backups on a rolling basis, so deleted data drops out of them over time.
How long it takes
Data protection law gives us one month to respond to a deletion request. We'll confirm we've received yours and complete the deletion within that month.
Deleting some of your data without closing your account
If you'd like specific information about you removed or corrected but want to keep your account, email support@motorworks.ie and tell us what it is. Where it's part of your garage's records, we'll pass the request to your garage and help it respond, since the garage decides what it keeps.
If you're a customer of a garage that uses Motorworks, please contact the garage first, because it looks after your customer record. We help garages with erasure requests, as our GDPR page explains.
