A lifecycle with guarded status changes
Vehicle sales move through acquired, preparing, for sale, deposit paid, finance pending, sold and completed stages. Motorworks limits each stage to valid next steps and requires the sales balance to be cleared before the record can be marked sold or completed.
Preparation remains visible in the workshop
Internal preparation jobs use the same job system as other workshop work. The vehicle-sale record shows the linked jobs and their recorded labour and parts costs, alongside purchase and direct sales costs.
Follow the buyer and the deadlines
Listings record where and when the vehicle was advertised. Enquiries keep the buyer’s contact details, source, notes and current status. Warranty expiry and approved-finance expiry dates are surfaced on the sale record so they are not left in a separate email thread.
Profit and loss reporting is based on the purchase, preparation, direct cost, payment and sale values recorded in Motorworks. It is only as complete as those records.
